The Monkey Researcher, 6 x 6 in., oil

Painting #71

Another portrait of my pet monkey!

You may recall that the monkey and I were planning a three month trip to Spain leaving in March of 2020 to walk the Camino de Santiago. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, I had to cancel the trip.

But he didn’t agree. Here he is researching news articles on the Internet, trying to come up with arguments about why we should still go. I keep on telling him that he should stick to well-vetted new sources, but instead, he’s been looking at sensationalist news. And we end up with totally different understandings of what is actually going on. He thinks it’s all an overblown fake, some news story that’s designed to repress the average joe, and somehow in some crazy way benefit the elites. And ruin our vacation for no good reason! It’s like we live in two different worlds, it’s hard to even argue…

I forgive him, though. He’s just really unhappy and grasping at straws. And I have to say, I do admire how he uses his prehensile tail to scroll a smartphone. It makes me wish I had one!

Sorry, sold! Available for purchase. This work is unframed, but it is mounted on a board with a slot in the back which allows you to hang it on a wall without a frame. $135 includes domestic shipping.

Bad News Monkey, 6 x 6 in., oil

Bad News Monkey,6 x 6” or 15 x 15 cm, oil. Stephan Giannini

Painting #69

I don’t talk about it much, but I have a pet red monkey.  We’ve been together for about six or seven years now.  And we were actually planning a three month trip to Spain leaving March 31, 2020 to walk the Camino de Santiago. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, I had to cancel the trip. This is the moment that I gave my friend the bad news that we weren’t going. And then I explained why. It just seemed  so crazy to him that’s something that sounded like a glorified flu could wreck all our plans…… Him and me, and half a planet of others.

But of course, it’s much more serious than that. Our hearts go out to everybody who is suffering tragedy.

SOLD. Available for purchase. This work is unframed, but it  is mounted on a board with a slot in the back which allows you to hang it without a frame. $110 includes shipping.
